Thomas the Tank Engine in Durango

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will host a 15-ton replica of the popular children's book and television character Thomas the Tank Engine, with train rides and other Thomas-themed entertainment from June 15-18 at its Durango station.

"Day Out With Thomas" is now in its 12th year. In addition to short train rides (approximately 25 minutes) aboard Thomas, children can meet the character Sir Topham Hatt and enjoy arts and crafts activities, musical entertainment, juggling and storytelling. Events are suitable for ages two and up.

The themed engine is owned by HIT Entertainment and will tour 45 cities in the USA and Canada this year in partnership with local railroads. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has operated its scenic route through the San Juan National Forest since 1881, and currently runs daily from May through October.
