Forget Santa Fe. You'll find some great Southwestern art at affordable prices in the tiny town of La Veta. Art galleries feature fine quilts, paintings, sculpture and jewelry, all made by local artists—many, it is said, moved from Santa Fe because they could no longer afford to live there. 719-742-3676.
Pick up a peck or two of peaches in Palisade or any of the nearby towns on the Western Slope this summer. The area has been a hotbed of peach-growing for more than 100 years. Check out the other produce, too, at the roadside stands and in local stores. Buy a bunch and preserve them for a sweet taste of summer in the middle of winter. 800-962-2547.
