Speedway is local landmark

AAA Colorado is entering its second year of partnership with Bandimere Speedway, a Colorado landmark. With grandstands rising against the hillside known as the Dakota Hogback at Morrison Road and C-470 in Morrison, Bandimere Speedway has been the site of many national racing events since 1958 and has been the host of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals for the last 28 years.

Bandimere hosts numerous events, such as the Mile-High Nationals (July 13-15) where drag racers burn up a quarter mile of track in less than 4.5 seconds at speeds reaching in excess of 320 mph.

The Bandimere family has been the driving force behind the raceway for three generations. John Bandimere Sr. built the track in 1958 to give manufacturers a place to test their new products, to boost sales at his auto parts business, but most of all to give young people a safe place to drag race. Bandimere Speedway remains very active in local schools and the community.
