More than 1,000 new pet-friendly AAA rated lodgings have been added to the ninth edition of Traveling With Your Pet: The AAA PetBook. This brings the total to more than 13,000 properties for the United States and Canada, all with detailed listings of fees, permitted pet sizes and conditions of stay.
Many hoteliers now cater to the millions of Americans who bring their pets when traveling. Typical treats include special menus, dog beds, food and water bowls and I.D. tags. Optional extras range from walking service to grooming. Some luxury properties even offer massages and spa treatments for pets. Nearly every city across the United States and Canada offers pet-friendly accommodations.
