Sundance Trail Guest Ranch in Red Feather Lakes gets so little snow, they're open year round for horseback riding. The small, family-oriented operation also is one of the few guest ranches around that allows you to bring your (well-mannered) dog. 800-357-4930 or 970-224-1222. Victorian antiques fill the rooms of the historic Strater Hotel in downtown Durango. The striking white-trimmed red brick hotel, built in 1887, has 93 interesting guest rooms, some in odd sizes and shapes. 800-247-4431.
