Let your voice be heard

The 2008 Colorado legislative session will be in full swing when this issue of EnCompass reaches member homes. As always, AAA Colorado is monitoring all traffic safety and transportation-related bills and will report any significant developments in future issues, as well as on www.AAA.com (under "News & Safety").

AAA has a 100-year tradition of commitment to traffic safety and transportation issues for all drivers, passengers and pedestrians. Today, the AAA Association has continued that tradition on a national level, and AAA Colorado is doing what it can to effect positive change here in the state. AAA Colorado is proud to have helped bring about the graduated drivers' licensing system which aids our youngest drivers. Currently, issues of particular interest include child-passenger safety, teen drivers' first year behind the wheel, distracted driving and mature driver issues.

A critical component in all of AAA Colorado's legislative work is the input from members. AAA Colorado values every member's opinion and believes that member support is necessary for any major initiative.

To solicit as much member input as possible, AAA Colorado offers multiple avenues to let your voice be heard—some long-established and some new:

  • Write to AAA Colorado. Letters to the editor can be emailed to editor@colorado.aaa.com, or mailed to EnCompass Editor, AAA Colorado, 4100 E. Arkansas Ave., Denver, CO 80222.
  • Call. Phone numbers for various departments of AAA Colorado are listed in every issue of EnCompass.
  • Visit an office. There are 14 offices statewide.
  • Visit www.AAA.com's News & Safety pages. Members can learn about what the AAA Association and AAA Colorado are doing legislatively. Additionally, there is a new area called the Legislative Action Center, which helps anyone contact individual government officials, both locally and nationally.

I encourage every member to let AAA Colorado know how you feel about traffic safety and transportation issues. Armed with member input, AAA Colorado will continue to move forward to make the state's roads safer for all drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
