Chinese warriors on display

Starting in May, a traveling exhibition at four U.S. museums will display 20 terracotta warriors and dozens of other artifacts from the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor.

The "Buried Army" was discovered in Xi'an, China, in 1974 and is considered one of the greatest archaeological finds of modern times. More than 8,000 terracotta soldiers and horses were buried with the emperor, who died in 210 BC. Only a handful have ever been displayed outside China.

The exhibition will open at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, Calif. on May 18 and run through Oct. 12. It will then move to the High Museum in Atlanta, Georgia (Nov. 2008-Apr. 2009), the Houston Museum of Natural Science (May-Oct. 2009) and the National Geographic Society Museum in Washington, D.C. (Nov. 2009-Mar. 2010).
