Flying with lithium batteries

New restrictions are in effect for flying with lithium batteries, commonly used in laptops, PDAs, cell phones and some cameras. To reduce the risk of fire, passengers will no longer be able to pack spare lithium batteries loose in their checked luggage.

The rule applies only to loose batteries. Devices with a lithium battery installed may still be packed in checked luggage or carry-on luggage. Passengers may also carry on up to two spare lithium batteries, protected in original packaging or in individual plastic bags.
