Cheyenne Mountain State Park

One of Colorado's newest state parks blankets the foothills just south of Colorado Springs. It's Cheyenne Mountain State Park, formerly the 1,680-acre JL Ranch.

The park now boasts paved roads, a visitors center and 20 miles of improved trails, most marked with signs that tell about the local flora and fauna. Mountain biking is allowed; horse traffic is prohibited and dogs must be leashed.

This summer there are ten tent sites and 51 RV sites with full hook-ups, as well as a campers' services building with showers and a playground. Future plans include full-service cabins and an events center.
