MOBILE

Two new AAA apps

AAA recently released its new AAA Insurance app that walks drivers through the process of collecting information and taking photos of a crash scene. It also has one-touch access for calling police and emergency services, requesting a tow and filing a claim.

The app allows users to store their auto insurance company’s contact information, policy number, drivers on the policy and vehicles on the policy, which can be password protected for privacy. Users can view a summary of the traffic crash details and email a report straight from their iPhone.

AAA’s popular TripTik Mobile app is now available for Android-compatible devices. Similar to the iPhone version, the free AAA TripTik Mobile app is GPS-based, with maps showing gas station locations and other points of interest, such as hotels, restaurants and attractions, near a user’s location or any user-specified location.

AUTOSOURCE

AutoSource’s new used car showroom
AAA Colorado’s auto-buying service, AutoSource, recently moved its used car showroom into a larger facility that’s double its previous space.

The new facility, at 2680 S. Platte River Drive, house the sales staff and a showroom displaying up to 60 clean, low-mileage vehicles. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

David Adair, general manager of AutoSource, says, “Customers are looking for four-cylinder cars for fuel-efficient commutes, and six- and eight-cylinder sport utility vehicles for active lifestyles.” Hybrids like the Toyota Prius can be hard to find, and when Adair locates one, it typically sells in a day or two.

AutoSource buys its used cars from a “myriad of places,” Adair says. “AAA members trade in some awful nice cars and we also go to auctions locally and throughout the country.

If you’re looking to buy or lease a new car, AutoSource can handle those needs as well. It can even get you any rebates/incentives that are offered by car manufacturers.

AutoSource agents are available in AAA Colorado district offices in six Denver metro locations—Denver, Aurora, Wheat Ridge, Northglenn, Southglenn and Southwest—as well as Boulder and Colorado Springs.

For images of the pre-owned cars in stock or to request information on new or other used cars, visit www.AAAautosource.com.

Auto Skills contest winners

Smoky Hill High School seniors Kyle Thomas (left) and Ryan Presnal (right), and their instructor, Scott Seperich (center), won the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills state competition on May 7 at the NAPA Distribution Center in Denver, and represented Colorado at the national championships June 12 at Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Thomas and Presnal finished ahead of nine other teams, including another from their school, Taran Coman and Chandler Davison, who finished second. Each team had to pass written tests and fix all the bugs planted in the identically-equipped 2012 Ford Mustangs assigned to them.

At the national finals, teams from each state worked to solve bugs on 2011 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 Super Cab trucks.
