With four mountains, nearly 5,300 acres of terrain, two classic Colorado mountain towns, more than 100 bars and restaurants and dozens of world renounced events, there is always something happening at Aspen/Snowmass.

For those looking for a challenge, ski where even the locals are humbled--Aspen Highlands. Wide-open runs, breathtaking views, plenty of beginner and intermediate runs, and hike-accessible terrain that are some of the steepest in the state. The terrain is 18% beginner, 30% intermediate, and 52% advanced with an 8,040' base elevation.

The flagship mountain of Aspen rises imposingly out of the heart of downtown. Famous for its steeps, bumps, and incredible views, Aspen Mountain and its double-blacks and tree runs are fun for riders and skiers alike. The terrain is 48% intermediate and 52% advanced with a 7,945' base elevation.


Home of the ESPN Winter X Games through 2010 (an unprecedented run of nine consecutive years at one resort), Buttermilk is also widely regarded as the place for beginners and families to cruise wide, rolling trails. Olympians, X Games champs and other park kids brave the giant features in the legendary terrain park. The terrain is 35% beginner, 39% intermediate, and 26% advanced with a 7,870' base elevation.

Too massive to be adequately explored in a single day, Snowmass demands repeat trips. Snowmass offers over 3,000 acres of cruisers, steeps, terrain parks and halfpipes, splayed upon a Rocky Mountain massif with a vertical drop of 4,406 feet. With 23 lifts and 90 trails, Snowmass defies belief. The terrain is 6% beginner, 50% intermediate, 44% advanced with an 8,104' base elevation.

Ski School

The Treehouse Kids\' Adventure Center at the base of Snowmass is for preschool programs and Elk Camp Meadows at the top of the Snowmass Elk Camp gondola is for beginners. Aspen/Snowmass has also made program changes to align ages for skiing and snowboarding better, making it easier for families to choose a lesson for their preschoolers, kids and teens.

Child Care

Aspen/Snowmass offers several types of childcare for ages 8 weeks to 4 years at the Treehouse Kids\' Adventure Center at the base of Snowmass with its interactive, nature-themed rooms for the different ages. Child care options include one-on-one care with the Nanny Cub Care program, or children can enjoy the group environment of Snow Cubs. Aspen/Snowmass provides individual care and attention in a Colorado state-licensed daycare facility. Evening care is also available.
