AAA Colorado Teen Driver Survey - Key Findings
- 97% of Colorado teens surveyed believe text messaging while driving is dangerous.
- 51% of Colorado teens surveyed admitted to texting while driving, compared to 46% of teens surveyed nationally in AAA/Seventeen magazine survey*.
- 66% of Colorado teens surveyed admit to talking on the cell phone while driving, compared to 51% of teens surveyed nationally in AAA/Seventeen magazine survey*.
- 74% of Colorado teens surveyed do not know traffic laws for cell phone use in Colorado.
- 81% of Colorado teens surveyed believe there should be some legal limitation on cell phone use (including text messaging) while driving.
- 73% of Colorado teens surveyed say that strict driving penalties (such as losing your license) would make them less likely to text message while driving.
- 38% of Colorado teens surveyed admit to taking their eyes off the road when texting while driving.

- Colorado AAA surveyed Colorado teens of driving age between August 20 and September 21, 2007 via the Internet.
- 460 Colorado teens responded to the survey.
- 205 (44.57%) respondents were male and 255(55.43%) were female.
- Respondents were from 84 different cities/towns in the State of Colorado.
- *Comparatively, AAA National and Seventeen magazine surveyed 1,000 teens nationwide in a cell phone use and text messaging survey.
